This formative assessment is to check if students are comprehending the thematic topic of compassion in the novel. Students can use this draft as a check for understanding before composing the summative essay over the novel.

Cognitive Development
This formative assessment will allow students to demonstrate that they understand the cognitive development necessary for teaching first and second grade students. It will also show that they understand how to redirect the behavior of young children. This is formative so the instructor has time to correct any ideas before the final presentation.

Students will reflect on the process using their blogs. This will allow the students to express concerns, brainstorm ideas, and communicate with class members in and out of their group. Students can reflect on the process and discuss the process throughout the journey. This will serve as a formative assessment for the student and the teacher. It will also allow the class to go back to the entries in order to keep the discussions going once the project has been presented.

Students can create interactive comic strips, movies, or any other product they can think of utilizing technology. (Rubrics created using Rubistar)
