- Students will have access to graphic organizers to assist in logically organizing thoughts and ideas.
- Students can use assistive technology when required (helpful ideas here) to assist in the creation of the product.
- Students have access to extended time modifications when needed for the formative assessments.
- Students will have group members available to assist in research and product creation.
- Teacher will scaffold instruction as needed for the students.
- Students will be given check in dates throughout the process as opposed to one due date at the end.
Diverse Learning Styles:
- All students will have high, yet attainable, expectations.
- Students will see this task as important and meaningful to them and their experiences.
- Teacher will focus the project on student creation and imagination.
Effective Research Strategies:
- Students will work with the school librarian in order to learn the best, most effective research strategies.
- Students will not simply Google ideas.
- Google Scholar is a great tool for articles and book chapters. Additionally, the students can change the parameters in order to receive the most recent articles.
- My school library media center has a page set up to assist students in the research process. This is a great resource, and students can ask the librarian questions in order to clarify the process. It also links to a number of resources that assist in the research process.
Web 2.0 Tool Inclusion:
- Facebook, Twitter: Students can use these social media apps to communicate with one another throughout the process. (If students are uncomfortable sharing information, the class could always use Celly). Students can also share links and articles through these social media apps.
- Pinterest: This app allows users to create boards where all group members can post ideas for the project. Users do not have to be in the same location physically to work on the board.
- Schoology or Google Classroom: A classroom management site that allows students to collaborate.
- Bitstrips: Students may use Bitstrips in order to teach their lesson. Users can create a comic using this Web 2.0 tool.
